Six-year-old Travis Ward of Kill Devil Hills had two of the seven winning fish in Saturday's closing individual segment of the 44th annual Nags Head Surf Fishing Tournament.
Competing in the 6- to 9-year-old age bracket, he had the winning speckled trout at 18 1/2 inches long and the winning bluefish at 14 3/4 inches.
Elizabeth Burgess of Kitty Hawk had the only winning catch in the 10- to 16-year-old category, a 14 1/2-inch bluefish.
Adult winners were:
Bluefish, Bob Burgess, Kitty Hawk, 16 1/2 inches; specked trout, James Sammons, Norfolk, 19 3/4 inches; sea mullet, John Miley, Kill Devil Hills, 13 1/4 inches; and flounder, Keith Welderhof, Clinton, Md., 16 3/4 inches.
The Gulf Stream Fishing Team of Nags Head won the team competition Thursday and Friday by catching 67 fish and scoring a total of 201 points, with fish scored by length.
