ODU FIELD HOCKEY TEAM TOPS NO. 6 NORTHEASTERN

Danielle Chellew scored 24:36 into the game to give the third-ranked Old Dominion field hockey team a 1-0 victory over No. 6 Northeastern Saturday at Edward S. Parsons Field.

The Lady Monarchs, who improve to 10-2-1, managed only two shots on goal in the second half and failed to convert six penalty corner attempts. ODU outshot Northeastern, 11-4, and had 10 corners to the Huskies' three, for the game.

Keeper Kim Decker notched four saves en route to her seventh shutout of the season.

The Lady Monarchs will travel to American University on Thursday. W&M soccer defeats Charleston to reach 12-0

William and Mary's men's soccer team kept alive a perfect season and snapped the College of Charleston's 12-game home unbeaten streak Sunday, taking a 2-1 victory.

Greg Richards scored for the Tribe (12-0) two minutes into the match, and Charleston's Javier Vivanco tied the score on a bicycle kick 19:25 into the first half.

No goals were scored for another 65 minutes before Billy Owens deflected in a Waughn Hughes blast with 5 1/2 minutes left in the game.

The College of Charleston (9-3) had a six-game overall win streak ended, and failed to score three or more goals for the first time in six games. by CNB
