Charlotte Hornets center Alonzo Mourning will miss the next two weeks of training camp with a toe injury, the club said Monday.
Mourning, who missed 21 games last year to injuries, has a strained flexor tendon in the big toe of his right foot. He was placed in a cast by team doctor Glenn Perry.
The 6-foot-10 center out of Georgetown and Indian River High is expected to be ready to play before the preseason ends. Charlotte's first exhibition game is next Friday.
Mourning missed 15 games last season with a torn muscle in his left calf. He missed another six games with a sprained right ankle.
The Hornets' Larry Johnson, meanwhile, pronounced himself ready to go.
``I think I'm back. I'm ready to go play now,'' Johnson, who missed 31 games and battled back problems throughout last season, said Sunday.
``I think I'm close to 100 percent, if I'm not 100 percent,'' Johnson said. ``I feel I can do everything I could before I was hurt.'' ILLUSTRATION: Photo
