Harold Leon Taylor, 77, died Oct. 10, 1994, in his residence.
Mr. Taylor, a native of Alton, Kan., was the widower of Bettie Lee Taylor. He retired from the City of Portsmouth as a pump operator for the Water Department and was also retired from the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, America-Fellowship Masonic Lodge (NU)148, Fleet Reserve Branch (NU)40 and Churchland Lions Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Christine L. Smith of Portsmouth; two sisters, Ellen Wick of Gooding, Idaho, and Eula Collier of Topeka, Kan.; a brother, Carl O. Taylor of Hays, Kan.; a granddaughter, Jennifer S. Vegh and her husband, David; and two great-grandchildren, Wil and Casey. He was preceded in death by a son, Craig Lee Taylor.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Aldersgate United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Cofield and the Rev. Scott Rimer. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
