FRANCIS L. BRITTAN

Francis L. Brittan, 73, of the 5200 block of Pleasant Hall Drive, died Oct. 10, 1994, in a local hospital.

Mr. Brittan, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., was a graduate of Virginia Tech and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He was retired from the Coast Guard after 25 years of service. He was the widower of Virginia Doris Brittan and was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Virginia Beach.

Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Carol Brittan and Mary Beth B. Martin, both of Virginia Beach, and Barbara B. Burgess of Chesapeake; two sons, Francis L. ``Buddy'' Brittan Jr. of Chesapeake and Michael Ancel Brittan of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mary Ellen Miles of Roanoke; two brothers, D. Eugene Brittan of Virginia Beach and James W. Brittan of Vienna, W.Va.; and 11 grandchildren.

A church service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church by Rev. Anselm Ober O.S.B. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park following the church service. A Christian wake service will be at 7 p.m. today in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
