Walter Reid, 74, of the 3500 block of Seay Ave., a retired gardener, died Oct. 9, 1994, in Newport News.
Mr. Reid was born in Norfolk, son of the late Louise Pauline McConnell and James Reid. He was retired from the Amphibious Base after 35 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda J. Skinner of Norfolk, Dorothy P. Harvey of North Carolina and Cynthia C. Vaughan of Virginia Beach; a son, Walter D. Reid of California; a brother, Joseph McConnell of Norfolk; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one uncle, Harry Taylor; two aunts, Bessie Hale of Norfolk and Elsie Faison of California; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was raised by his Mom and stepfather, Mack McConnell.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hale Funeral Home by the Rev. Clayton Hall. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will assemble at 6315 Natrona Ave., Norfolk.
