Erla E. Dearing, a retired civil service employee, died Oct. 9, 1994, in her son's home in Hampton.
Mrs. Dearing was born in Youngsville, Pa., and was retired from the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. She retired after 31 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon McCool of Palmyra, Pa., and Carol Sawyer of Bent Mountain, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Michele Dearing of Hampton; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in First Lutheran Church, Norfolk, by Dr. James G. Cobb. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Hope Haven Children's Home or to a charity of one's choice.
