Mary Joyner Gardner, 84, of the 8600 block of S. Quay Road, died Monday, Oct. 10, 1994, at her home.
Mrs. Gardner was a native of Southampton County and was the daughter of the late John Arrington and Annie Elizabeth Hatfield Joyner. She was the widow of Cephus Luke Gardner Sr. She was a retired inspector for St. Regis Paper Company in Franklin and was a member of South Quay Baptist Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Rachel G. Harrell of Suffolk, Mary Elizabeth G. Hawes of Alfred, N.Y., Ida Leigh G. Odom of Brookwood, Ala., Amy G. Tucker of Lakeland, Fla., Bernice G. Holland of Portsmouth and Brenda G. Dilday of Ahoskie; one son, C. Luke Gardner Jr. of Suffolk; one brother, John Thomas Joyner of Kenbridge; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Clyde Alderman and the Rev. Ron Nickels. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
