Two Virginia Beach companies have paid $24,810 in back wages to 129 employees, as called for in a consent judgment entered last month in U.S. District Court in Norfolk. Tarheel Corp. and Blajac Associates Inc., which manage motels and apartment complexes in the Virginia Beach area, paid the money after the U.S. Department of Labor filed a complaint over violations of minimum wage, overtime and record keeping provisions, the Department of Labor reported. The Department of Labor complaint, filed last November, covered violations that occurred between Oct. 2, 1988, and Aug. 30, 1992. by CNB
