WEEKLY BRIEFING

NADEP TRAINING: Norfolk Naval Aviation Depot is developing a training program for employees losing their jobs with the closing of the maintenance and repair center. Working with the state of Virginia, the depot is offering classroom training that includes college and vocational referrals. In addition, private employers who provide on-the-job training for displaced workers will be reimbursed for half the workers' wages. Federal programs including the Job Training Partnership Act are helping pay for the effort. More information is available from the depot's transition assistance program. The depot is scheduled to close Sept. 30, 1996.

RETIREE DAY: Retirees from all service branches are invited to hear presentations on legislative developments and management of personal affairs during Retiree Day and Open House on Oct. 22 at the Fort Monroe Officers Club in Hampton. Air Force Col. Ronald P. McCoy, chief of staff with the Defense Commissary Agency, is the speaker. A luncheon will be served for $7.75. For information, call 727-2093.
