Ernest Brown Sr., 76, of the 4200 block of Greenwood Drive, a retired utility worker, died Oct. 9, 1994.
Mr. Brown was born in Weldon, N.C. He retired from the City of Portsmouth nine years ago.
Survivors include three daughters, Juanita Bell, Emma Brown and Mary Cummings, all of Portsmouth; four sons, Ernest Brown Jr., Clyde Brown, William Brown and James Brown, all of Portsmouth; two sisters, Annie Scott of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Elizabeth Grant of Hollis, N.Y.; two brothers, Arthur Brown of Weldon and Otis Brown of Littleton, N.C.; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Serenity Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Leon Boone. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at 2716 High St., Portsmouth, at 1:15 p.m. Friday for the processional to the chapel.
