FIRST COLONIAL GRAD HAS IRISH EYES AGLOW

Former local standout Tim Oates, a senior soccer star at Notre Dame, made a big return from a combination of an injury and too many yellow cards by netting two goals in the Irish's 3-0 shutout victory over Illinois-Chicago.

It was the First Colonial grad's fourth multiple-goal game of the season. Oates leads the Irish in scoring with nine goals and six assists (24 points).

``I like to think that I bring good leadership along with scoring to the team, Oates said. ``Right now, we are not doing well as a team. We are not scoring enough.'' The Irish are 6-7 and are averaging just over two goals a game.

Oates ranks eighth on the Notre Dame all-time scoring list with 86 points (35 goals and 16 assists).
