SUFFOLK CRIME LINE

Suffolk police are investigating the second vandalism to Cedar

Hill Cemetery this year and are asking for help in finding the

people responsible.

On Sept. 30, someone entered the cemetery, in the 300 block of

North Main Street, and turned over 38 headstones. At least five of

the stones were broken, and the damage totaled more than $1,000. A

witness saw three young, white males kick some headstones and then

run toward the park on Constance Road. Investigators believe

juveniles may be responsible.

Cedar Hill Cemetery is one of the oldest in the Suffolk area and

houses Civil War-era grave sites. This makes it a landmark with

historical interest.

If you have any information concerning this vandalism, please

call Suffolk Crime Line at 539-1222. If the information you provide

leads to an arrest, you may receive a cash reward of up to $1,000 in

Suffolk Crime Line Cash. Remember, when calling Crime Line, you do

not have to give your name or testify in court on the information

you provide.
