HONORS AND AWARDS

Anne Wolcott has been named to the position of fine arts coordinator for the city public schools. Wolcott, who holds a doctoral degree from Pennsylvania State University, previously taught at the University of Richmond, Penn State and East Carolina.

State Sen. Mark L. Earley, a Republican representing Chesapeake/Virginia Beach, was selected as one of 35 emerging leaders in state government from across the nation to attend the weeklong Toll Fellowship Program held recently in Lexington, Ky.

Alexander's on the Bay restaurant has received a ``Gold Cluster'' award from the Virginia Wine Growers Board in recognition of its efforts in the promotion of Virginia wines. The restaurant had previously received a one-cluster award in 1991 and three cluster awards in 1992 and 1993.

Larissa Pennington, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Pennington, competed in the state finals of the Virginia Miss T.E.E.N. pageant in Williamsburg.

Becky Herron is the newly elected president of Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary sorority for women educators. Other new officers include Sandra Mullen, vice president; Genevieve Barnes, recording secretary; Lois Deloatche, corresponding secretary; Cita Broome, treasurer; Gail Zoeller, historian; Marsha Hays, sergeant-at-arms; Jean Ainsle, chaplain, and Gale Nicholson, past president.

New members Julie Hales, Carole Melvin and Joyce Turner were initiated into the society at the group's September meeting.

Robert W. Fanning was promoted from vice president to chief operating officer of Operation Blessing International Relief and Development, a humanitarian relief organization based in Virginia Beach. He is responsible for both U.S. benevolence programs and international relief and development projects. Fanning has been with Operation Blessing for two years and with the Christian Broadcasting Network since 1983.

Patrick Agnew was recently elected secretary-treasurer of the American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics. Agnew is a graduate of Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, an assistant professor at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine and a visiting instructor for Portsmouth Naval Hospital and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.
