Joseph S. ``Radio'' Parker Jr., 78, of the 2700 block of Arcadia Ave., a retired welder, died Oct. 13, 1994, in his home.
Mr. Parker was born in Norfolk County. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 42 years, was a member and deacon of Mount Carmel Baptist Church and former superintendent of the Sunday School, and the widower of Rebecca Perry Parker.
Survivors include a daughter, Cora Parker Owens of Hampton; two sons, Joseph S. Parker III and William E. Parker, both of Portsmouth; a sister, Lucille Parker of Philadelphia, Pa.; a brother, Charles Parker of Seabrook, S.C.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Theresa M. Parker of Portsmouth; and son-in-law, Charles D. Owens of Hampton.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. E.T. Knight. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Monday.
