The Pendleton House, above, was built in the late 1700s and is the
last unaltered 18th century home in Pasquotank County. Citizens
raised thousands of dollars to help move and preserve the house,
which now sits in a soybean field a quarter-mile from its original
site at Nixonton. Beverly Small, president of the Pendleton House
Association, left, sorts foundation bricks at the new site after the
house was moved.
