Raymond O. ``Doc'' Blanchard, 70, of the 1300 block of River Road, died Oct. 13, 1994, in Obici Hospital.
Mr. Blanchard was born in Chowan County, N.C., and was the retired owner of Blanchard Bros. Shell Station and Blanchard's Trailer Park. He was a member of Suffolk, Christian Church; member and past president of the Baracca Sunday School Class; member and past master of Suffolk Masonic Lodge (NU)30; and member of the Portsmouth Valley of the Scottish Rite; Khedive Shrine Temple; and Suffolk Shrine Club. He was a former member and past president of Magnolia Ruritan Club; former charter member and past president of the Suffolk Cosmopolitan Club; and member of Suffolk Elks Lodge (NU)685; Travelers Protective Association Post P; and American Association of Retired Persons.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Chappell Blanchard; a son, Randall O. Blanchard of Suffolk; a brother, Thomas J. Blanchard of Arrowhead, Chowan County, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, Susie Chappell Blanchard and Charles Watson Blanchard, a sister, Helen Blanchard Twine, and two brothers, Watson V. Blanchard and William E. Blanchard Sr.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Suffolk Christian Church by the Rev. Bruce A. Havens. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oncology Unit of Obici Memorial Hospital, 1900 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
