FIVE SHOT TO DEATH AT HOUSING PROJECT

Children had already left for school and some residents were at work Friday morning when neighbors heard gunshots and screams in a second-floor apartment of the Gilpin Court public housing complex.

Shortly after 9 a.m., two adults and three children had been shot to death the apartment. Two other children were wounded, including a pregnant teenager who lost her fetus.

Police identified the dead as Daphne Jones, 29; Nicole Jones, 9; David Jones, 4; Robert Jones, 3, and James N. Randolph, 35. Police believe Daphne Jones was the children's mother.

Tamika Jones, 14, who had been about seven months pregnant, was in critical condition at a hospital. Kenya Jones, 18 months, was treated at a hospital and was to be released to foster care.
