A 26-year-old man was arrested Friday and charged with stabbing his roommate to death.
The names of the victim and the suspect were being withheld by police Friday night until the victim's family could be notified.
The stabbing occurred about 6:20 p.m. in a cottage the men shared in the 200 block of Point Comfort Ave. in the Buckroe section of the city.
Police said the two men began struggling during an argument and one got a knife and stabbed the other in the chest.
The victim was taken to Sentara Hampton General Hospital, where he died at 7:05 p.m.
The suspect was arrested at the scene, and police recovered the weapon, a large knife.
