Hundreds of us assembled to mourn the loss and celebrate the life of Gin Friddell. She was no ``captain of industry,'' nor did she write the great novel. But her legacy was far greater than anyone who was or did.
She was learned and gifted, as well, but it was the latter that made the difference in so many lives. Her gift was her vision of what could be in each person she met or taught. Her work was making the vision a reality, and she succeeded time after time, child after child, person after person.
There are no instruments capable of measuring her worth, for it cannot be stated in conventional terms. While her breath has ceased, she will live on in the lives and accomplishments of the many, like my son, who were fortunate enough to have had the benefit of her wisdom and counsel and who were changed forever by the experience.
