CRESTAR MAKING DRIVE-THROUGH FACILITY LARGER

Crestar Bank, 123 N. Main St., is expanding its drive-through teller facility on the Saratoga Street side of the building.

Construction workers last week demolished the two-lane facility and are building a three-lane replacement, to be finished in about three weeks, to help alleviate traffic back-ups on Saratoga Street.

Also, more advanced teller computers should speed up customer transactions, said Linda G. Doland, vice president and branch manager.

``We are making a sizable investment in our operation to improve service for existing customers and for any new Crestar customers,'' she said.

``This is a significant commitment for the bank and shows a lot of support for and faith in the central business district.''

The bank is making an initial investment of $165,000. Additional costs may be incurred later as equipment is added, Doland said.

While the work continues, lobby hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
