SENATORIAL RACE: NORTH, NO; ROBB, YES

Anthony Buccino's letter (Oct. 6) indicates that Ollie North is a Christian. I don't want to be a member of his congregation. Anyone who lies (especially to Congress), shreds government documents, channels funds to war machines and illegally accepts a gift of an electronic fence around his home that cost thousands of dollars is not my kind of a Christian. I realize, however, that the federal court threw out his conviction later on a technicality.

A person who would do all these things is not someone who should run for a Senate seat in Virginia. With someone like North in the Senate, what is going to become of our state? Will he look out for himself or for Virginia?

Virginia is the mother of presidents; you would think that the state's children would be ashamed to let the likes of North have the privilege of representing Virginia.

I plan to cast my ballot for a candidate who will put Virginians first - Sen. Charles Robb.
