ILLUSTRATION: Blaze in Virginia Beach

MARTIN GRUBE/Tidewater Fire Photographers Association

Firefighter John Midggette, right, grimaces as an early-morning

blaze destroys a Scarborough Square town house Monday. The fire

started just before 9 a.m. in the 3000 block of Yorkborough Way

while the resident wasn't home. Firefighters controlled the blaze,

above, in about 15 minutes and kept it from spreading to neighboring

units. The fire is believed to be accidental, but it is still under

investigation. Firefighter Rich Shelly, not pictured, was burned on

his knees and hands and was treated and released at Virginia Beach

General Hospital.
