The Cox boys volleyball team proved it is the team to beat in the Beach District with an emotional 16-14, 15-13 sweep of visiting rival Tallwood Tuesday.
The Falcons moved to 13-0 with five matches remaining and showed resiliency to go with their brand of power hitting.
After taking the first game in a nip-and-tuck battle that lasted 31 minutes, Cox found itself down to the Lions, 11-3, in the second.
``We don't give up, we don't ever give up,'' said Forrest Carr, who led all hitters with 10 kills.
The problem in the second game was the Falcons passing, forcing hurried sets and bad shots.
``No, we weren't passing too great in that second game,'' said Mike Dierstein, who had nine kills and served for 12 points. ``But we thought the entire game we could come back.''
Cox clawed to 12-7, before Tallwood (10-3) got a crucial 13th point before siding out.
The Falcons grasped the opportunity and scored the remaining points with one side out in between.
