At 1:30 p.m. today, Manteo High School Principal Linda Holmes is to meet with a group of 20 student protesters to discuss concerns ranging from a new ban on bookbags in class to the presence of a sheriff's deputy who was assigned to the school as a ``resource officer'' this fall.
The 20 students - most of whom walked out last week after a fellow classmate was arrested for disorderly conduct - have been meeting to iron out their requests before discussing their concerns with the principal.
Both administrators and students have said they hope to reach compromises over school policies. by CNB
