Former Maury High School soccer standout Lindsay Huffman is third on the Randolph-Macon women's soccer team in scoring and is the only freshman starter for the Lady Yellow Jackets this season.
``Coming to Randolph-Macon, I knew that I would have to work to get a starting position, Huffman said. ``I am surprised I'm starting, but I am not intimidated by being a freshman.''
Huffman, who played halfback and fullback at Maury, is playing forward for the first time in her soccer career.
``I'd rather play forward than any other position,'' she said. ``I like the system we play, and I like to create. I think my ability to create is my best skill.''
Huffman says she chose Randolph-Macon because of its ``well-established women's soccer tradition.'' The Lady Jackets are unbeaten in their last 29 games - the longest streak in Division III women's soccer history and the third-longest overall in women's collegiate soccer.
The Lady Jackets face Virginia Wesleyan today in Ashland, Va., for first place in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Both teams are undefeated in conference play.
