Rita Spitzli will be doing some traveling this year - anywhere in the United States she wants to go. David Goswick will go on a shopping spree at Lynnhaven Mall and Kevin Hurley definitely won't run out of heating oil this winter.
Spitzli, Goswick and Hurley were among the five grand prize winners in this year's Neptune Festival Gold Poseidon Pin drawing held Sunday at Lynnhaven Mall.
People had a chance to register for the drawing by purchasing a Poseidon Pin at the 21st annual Neptune Festival a few weeks ago. Most received a blue plastic pin in the shape of a seashell and an envelope with coupons. Others found a gold pin.
Those who got gold pins received coupons, a $10 restaurant gift certificate, a chance to win a cellular phone and registration for the grand prizes.
The pins, which sold for $2, helped raise money for the Neptune Festival. The fund-raiser began at last year's festival. This year, organizers produced 50,000 pins. ``We will try and make this an annual fund-raising event. Both years it was very successful and well received by the Oceanfront community and the public,'' said John Brogan, Poseidon Pin chairman.
Brogan said the extra pins and coupons will be distributed to the city's elementary students to help them become involved with the festival and show their support for it.
The winners of the grand prizes:
Rita Spitzli won two round-trip tickets to anywhere in the continental United States courtesy of USAir and Beach Travel.
David Goswick won a $1,500 shopping spree from Lynnhaven Mall.
Kevin Hurley won 1,000 gallons of heating oil from Papco Oil.
Connie McMahon won an Ocean Getaway from Oceanfront Inn.
