Horace H. Ambrose, 76, of the 1000 block of Simpson Ditch Road, died Wednesday morning in Albemarle Hospital.
He was a native of Washington County, N.C., and had retired from Horace Ambrose Furniture Co. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a member of the V.F.W., Williams Clarence Jackson Post (NU)6060. He was the son of the late Hillary H. and Lucy C. Taft Ambrose and the widower of Doris Hoover Ambrose.
Survivors include a son, Horace H. ``Butch'' Ambrose Jr. of Elizabeth City; a brother, Marion W. Ambrose of Southern Shores, N.C.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery today at 2 p.m. with military honors with V.F.W. Post (NU)6060. The Rev. Elwood Richie will officiate. The family will be at the residence.
Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, is in charge of arrangements.
