Eleanor H. Ashe, 77, widow of George P. Ashe Sr., departed this life Oct. 19, 1994.
Mrs. Ashe was retired as postmistress at Achilles. She and her late husband had operated their general store at Achilles for many years. She was a member of Red Wing Council No. 10 Degree of Pocahontas and Union Baptist Church. For a number of years she was the sponsor of the Clippers softball team. She was preceded in death by a son, George P. Ashe Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Ashe of Achilles; a sister, May H. Brown of Gloucester Point; a brother, Homer Hogge of Achilles; grandsons, Christopher L. Gwyn and Bradford A. Gwyn of Achilles; and many wonderful friends that she cared for deeply.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, by the Rev. James Myers. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden, Ordinary. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
