CWO4 John Thomas Maley Sr., U.S. Navy (Ret.), 52, of the 5400 block of Glenhaven Crescent, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 1994, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Maley was retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of service, after which he worked for civil service at the Norfolk Naval Health Support Office as a management analyst. He was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a veteran of Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Ann Maley; his mother and father, John J. and Rita Mellor Maley of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter, Rebecca M. Blair of Virginia Beach; a son, John Thomas Maley Jr. of Belle Meade, N.J.; three stepdaughters, Sherry Forbes, Melissa Forbes and Ann Heywood, all of Norfolk; a stepson, Barry Forbes of Norfolk; a sister, Barbara Blair of Leesburg, Va.; a brother, Robert Maley of Mercerville, N.J.; his mother-in-law, Cleo Peele of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Jackie, Katie and Jordan; and a multitude of loving friends.
He will be remembered as a kind, generous, loving man who absolutely adored his family, the likes of which will never be seen again.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel in the Woods, N.A.S. Norfolk by Capt. Gary Lyons. Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Jack Maley to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Coronary Care Unit Fund, 6015 Poplar Hall Drive, Suite 306, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
