James Harold ``Jim'' Schroeder, 71, of the 5100 block of Bellamy Manor Drive, died Oct. 19, 1994, in his residence.
Mr. Schroeder was born in Topeka, Kan. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility 14 years ago after 30 years of service. He served as chief motor machinist's mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II. During his Navy career, he served with the Scouts and Raiders.
Survivors include his wife, Lura Virginia Schroeder; two sons and their wives, Thomas H. and Terri Schroeder and David W. and Merridee Schroeder, all of Virginia Beach; a sister, Helen Farley of Burbank, Calif.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Ethel Godfrey, father, Benjamin Schroeder, and two brothers, John Schroeder and Thomas Schroeder.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today for visitation.
