WILLIAM T. VAN DYCK

William Thornton Van Dyck, 82, of the 4200 block of Hatton Point Lane died Oct. 22, 1994 in his residence.

He was a native of Portsmouth, retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard Naval Electronics Systems Command after 42 years, was a member of Monumental United Methodist Church and the Walter Gum Class, past master of Seaboard Masonic Lodge (NU)56 A.F. & A.M., member of Mt. Horeb Royal Arch Chapter (NU)11 and Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies, charter member of Club 13, Bennetts Creek Rescue Squad and Bennetts Creek Ruritan Club, and an honorary member of the Portsmouth Community Concert Assoc.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Foskey Van Dyck; sister, Charlotte Van Dyck Sorrell of Newbern, Tenn.; a brother, James Brinson Van Dyck and his wife Evelyn of Richmond; and two sisters-in-law, Frances Theiss Van Dyck of Portsmouth, widow of John Marvin Van Dyck, and Ann Roberts Van Dyck of Bozman, Maryland, widow of E. Calvin Van Dyck.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Raymond Edmonds and the Rev. Beverly Watkins. The family will be at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Monumental Sanctuary Restoration Fund or Bennetts Creek Rescue Squad.
