Robert Lee Askew of the 2600 block of Moton St., died Oct. 21, 1994 in his home.
Mr. Askew was born in Hertford County, N.C. He was a self-employed cement contractor for 48 years and a member and trustee of New First Baptist Church Taylorsville.
Survivors include his wife, Lena R. Askew; eight daughters, Arlene A. Elliott, Doris Christian, Elsie Askew, Robin Taylor, Valorie Davis, Shelia Askew, Hattie A. Williams and Patricia Askew; and three sons, Robert Askew, Wallace Askew and Gregory Askew, all of Portsmouth; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at New First Baptist Church Taylorsville, Portsmouth, by the Rev. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Monday. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
