Jesse L. Baysmore, 77, of the 2200 block of Parker Ave., a retired foundry worker, died Oct. 19, 1994 in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mr. Baysmore was born in Portsmouth. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 40 years and was a member of St. John Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Baysmore; two daughters, Marie Baysmore of Washington, D.C., and Ruby Paige of Portsmouth; a stepdaughter, Shirley Ann Gray of Portsmouth; a stepson, Robert Lee Cost of Philadelphia, Pa.; five sisters, Helen Elliott of Boston, Mass., Martha Baysmore of Philadelphia, Pa., Viola Brydie of Kenbridge, Va., and Adeline B. Wilkins and Priscilla Brown, both of Portsmouth; one aunt, Annie Whidbee of Waterbury, Conn.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. John E. Jones. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Monday.
