CHESAPEAKE

In the past six months, a man has stolen six luxury cars from local dealers in the Hampton Roads area. He's believed to be connected with at least 20 other auto thefts.

Police say Wayne Allen Breathwaite of Chesapeake started stealing cars in April by posing as a customer interested in buying a car.

Breathwaite would speak to the car dealer for several minutes, but while talking he would scan the area looking for keys belonging to vehicles parked on the lot, police say.

Before leaving the dealership, Breathwaite would take a set of keys, and return that night to steal the car, police say.

Stolen autos include a 1994 White Jaguar, a 1995 Red Mitsubishi 3000GT and a 1993 Green Pathfinder.

Wayne Allen Breathwaite is wanted on six counts of auto theft.
