GRACE PETTIT MARTIN

Grace Pettit Martin, 68, of Virginia Beach, left this life Oct. 18, 1994, while visiting family in South Carolina.

Grace, lovingly referred to as ``Granny Grace'', was born and raised in Ft. Lawn, S.C. Her adult life was spent in the Washington area. She married William F. Martin in 1947, and devoted her life to her husband and three children. She was widowed in 1981 and moved to Virginia Beach to be near her children.

Survivors include, two daughters, Linda S. Gleason and husband Terry of Virginia Beach, Debra A. Simpson and husband John of Salisbury, Md.; one son, Gary W. Martin of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Mabel Brown of Columbia, S.C., Helen P. Starnes of Greenbelt, Md., Kathryn Atkinson of Dallas, N.C., Maxine Wallace of Halahan, S.C.; six brothers, Richard Pettit of Conway, S.C., Avery Pettit of Lancaster, S.C., Avis Pettit of Ft. Lawn, S.C., James Harold Pettit of Great Falls, S.C., Julian Pettit of McConnells, S.C., and Don Pettit of Catawba, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Meredith House, Heather Gigger, Cory Gleason, Jennifer Gleason, Tonya Simpson, J.J. Simpson, James Simpson, Elizabeth Martin; two great grandchildren, Nicolas House and Devin Gigger.

Funeral services will be held in Greenbelt, Md., and she will be laid to rest with her husband in Falls Church, Va. Bass Funeral Home, South Carolina, is handling the arrangements.
