Herman E. Smith, 75, of the 1200 block of Sandbridge Road, a retired self-employed carpenter, died Oct. 23, 1994, in Lynn Shores Manor.
He was born in North Carolina and was the widower of Barbara Carolyn Smith. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Gail Rospino Smith of Boca Raton, Fla.; four sons, Kenneth H. Smith of Washington state, George ``Tony'' Smith, Danny R. Smith. and Earl D. Smith, all of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Zannie Flint of North Carolina, Odel S. Doyle of Rhode Island, and Effie Smith of North Carolina; one brother, Jerry Smith of Moyock, N.C.; and 14 grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, by the Rev. Warren Wilson. Burial will be private in Hampton National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service.
