A man suffering from severe head injuries was found lying on the shoulder of an interstate on-ramp Monday evening.
The man, whose identity was unavailable, was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he was in critical condition Monday night.
Police said they received a call about 8 p.m. about a man lying on the shoulder of the Interstate 464 south on-ramp to Interstate 264 east.
When officers arrived, they found the man had suffered severe trauma to his head, state police spokeswoman Tammy Van Dame said. No vehicle was found near the scene.
The man was carrying no identification. Police described him as black, in his early to mid-30s, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, 220 pounds, with short natural hair. He was wearing construction clothes, Van Dame said.
