As columnist Guy Friddell wrote on Oct. 14, no Virginia leader has exhibited such a lack of class as Oliver North.
Neither North, with all his problems, nor Chuck Robb, with his definite Clinton slant and lack of character, can be acceptable to Virginians as their representative in the U.S. Senate. It is obvious that Marshall Coleman is the only choice.
Marshall is a man of unquestioned character and conservative-governed principles who would carry out his Senate duties in the thoughtful, hard-working way that characterized his service as attorney general and legislator.

It is tragic that both major parties have nominated men who have reputations for dishonesty and who totally lack moral character. Their shortcomings and their lack of judgment have resulted in Virginia becoming the laughingstock of the nation.
We do have a choice - Marshall Coleman, born and educated in Virginia, has built a long record of service to the commonwealth. As a member of the legislature and the state Senate and as attorney general he compiled a distinguished and honorable reputation.
A senator who will uphold the good name of Virginia is within easy reach. If voters who are disgusted with both Robb and North drop the defeatist attitude that ``Coleman can't win, and I don't want to waste my vote,'' and instead vote their conscience, Marshall Coleman will win with a landslide.
