PERCIVAL D. LOWELL, JR.

Cmdr. ``Pete'' Lowell USN (Ret.) 71, of the 500 block of Talbot Hall Rd., died Oct. 25, 1994. Commander Lowell was a native of Chevy Chase, Md. As a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy he served in the Naval Surface and Submarine Forces during World War II and Korea and Vietnam era. Upon retirement he worked as an engineer for civil service at Naval Air Rework Facility.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Smith Lowell; five children, Clifton Delmar and wife Bonnie of Gainsboro, Ga., Carole Jeanne and husband Maj. Joe Crockett, USMC (Ret.), Sharon Lynn and husband Lt. Dan Sharpe USN (Ret.), Maj. Robert Conger Lowell, M.D., USAF and wife Liz of Bellbrook, Ohio, Mark Davis of Williamsburg; a brother Lt. Col. Bud Lowell, USAF (Ret.) and wife Penny of Cocoa Beach, Fla; a sister Betty Netterstrom of Titusville, Fla.; and 9 grandchildren.

He will be remembered as a very inventive and creative man, a unique person who persevered and was ``indestructible'' in the face of life's challenges.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Dr. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, or Sentara Hospice Program, Suite 200, (NU)8 Koger Executive Center, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
