THEIR CONSCIENCES SAY COLEMAN

I am less concerned about North's criminal activities than I am about his abysmal lack of knowledge of governmental operations. The man has never held any elective office.

Unless he has some hidden abilities that he has yet to show, his first term would be a terrible waste of time to bring him up to speed.

Rather than hold my nose and vote for Mr. Robb, my conscience requires me to vote for Mr. Coleman. If he does not win, at least I will know that I did what I believed best for our nation and commonwealth.

Friends and acquaintances have told me countless times that they would vote for Marshall Coleman if they thought he had a chance to win. By trying not to ``waste their votes'' instead of acting on their conscience, they are creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I would suggest that it is a greater waste of a vote to help put one of the characters nominated by the major parties into office.

Marshall Coleman embodies the moderate, intelligent, middle-of-the-road political philosophy that Virginians have consistently desired and elected. He is more than an attractive alternative; he is an outstanding candidate who deserves a seat in the senate.

The formula is simple: Vote your conscience, and elect a senator of whom we can be proud - Marshall Coleman.
