MARIANNA W. MABRY

Marianna Wiles Mabry, 72, of 207 57th St. died Oct. 19, 1994, at her residence.

Mrs. Mabry, daughter of Alfred and Lorine Burke Wiles, was born in Pittburg, Kansas on Jan. 19, 1922, and was a 1965 graduate of Old Dominion College. She completed her graduate work at the University of Virginia.

Employed in the Norfolk Public Schools from 1956 to 1972, Mrs. Mabry was a second grade teacher at Little Creek Elementary School. For the next 16 years, she pursued a civil service career and retired from the General Services Administration in Arlington, Va., in 1988. She lived in Virginia Beach for the past 6 years.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Norfolk for 40 years. During World War II, she served in the U.S. Navy as a yeoman third class, stationed in San Francisco, Calif. She was an honorary lifetime member of the National Education Association.

Family members who survive her include a daughter, Sharman M. Tait of North Haven, Conn.; a son, Stephen Charles Mabry of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Willma Darrow of Redlands, Ca; a brother-in-law, General Bruce Erwin of Arlington, Va.; and two grandchildren, Melissa and Allison Tait of North Haven, Ct. She was predeceased by one sister, Gloria, and two brothers, Alfred Jr. and Rex Lee Wiles.

A Chapel service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 1994, at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road by Hilda Wilson. Burial will be at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery.
