William Thomas Woodley, III, 88, a retired farmer, of 1401 N. High St. died Thursday Oct. 27, 1994, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Woodley, a native of Chowan Co. N.C., was the son of the late W.T. Woodley, Jr. and Margaret Pretlow Woodley. He graduated from N.C. State University in 1935, receiving his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering and also was a member of the university's first varsity swimming team. During World War II, Mr. Woodley was a draftsman at the Newport News Shipyard. Mr. Woodley retired in 1991 as manager of Beechwood Farm, being the fifth generation to farm there. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife: Caroline deWitt Woodley; one daughter: Margaret Woodley Bishop and her husband, Frank Rollins Bishop, Jr. of Norfolk; two grandsons: William Rollins Bishop and Frank Thomas Bishop.
A private graveside funeral will be conducted at 3 PM Saturday Oct. 29, 1994 at the Beechwood Family Grave Yard with the Rev. Edmund Pickup, officiating. Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Endowment Fund or The Village At Woods Edge Fellowship Fund. Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
