Richard K. Bishop, 58, of Colington Harbour, N.C., died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1994, at his residence. Mr. Bishop, born in Long Beach, Calif., Jan. 6, 1936, was the son of Herbert E. Bishop of Florence, S.C., and the late Helen K. Bishop. Mr. Bishop graduated from W.T. Griggs School in Currituck, N.C., the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and George Washington University in Washington. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a retired federal employee with 33 years of service. He was a member of St. Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church and the Duck Woods Country Club.
Besides his father, Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife, Ellen M. Bishop of the home; three sons, Matthew K. Bishop and wife, Trish, of Rock Island, Ill., Mark E. Bishop and wife, Kathy of Fredericksburg, Va., and Gregory L. Bishop of Virginia Beach, Va.; one granddaughter, Rachel Lynn Bishop. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bethany Louise Bishop. Also surviving are one brother, Michael E. Bishop of Mollush, Va. and three sisters, Patricia Lazarus of Homewood, Ala., Carolyn Frate of Florence, S.C., and Pamela McLean of Charlotte, N.C.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Charles Gill. A memorial service will also be held at Memorial Chapel in Arlington, Va. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. with interment following in Arlington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Outer Banks Cancer Support Group, P.O. Box 3384, Kill Devil Hills, N.C. 27948, or to Dare Hospice, P.O. Box 2511, Kill Devil Hills, N.C. 27948.
