The northbound lanes of I-664 at the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel were closed for about an hour Thursday morning after a three-vehicle accident.
Bill Cannell, spokesman for the Virginia Department of Transportation, said one of the vehicles was a VDOT van carrying three state workers. One worker was injured and was taken to a hospital.
Another of the vehicles caught fire and burned. That driver also was taken to a hospital, Cannell said.
The accident happened about 7 a.m. Traffic in the northbound lanes was restored at 8 a.m., Cannell said.
