Third-ranked Norcom may be trying to take a low-key approach to tonight's Southeastern District clash with top-ranked Deep Creek, but the impact of the game will be felt throughout Hampton Roads.
A Deep Creek victory would not only solidify the Hornets' hold on the lead in the district race. It would also effectively eliminate Norcom from the playoffs and clear the way for two Peninsula District teams, Hampton and Phoebus, to claim postseason berths.
With a Norcom victory, the Greyhounds could wind up the top-seeded team in the Division 5 playoffs.
In other games of note, seventh-ranked Indian River takes its revitalized offense to fifth-ranked Western Branch, where offense hasn't been a problem all season; sixth-ranked Tallwood tries to rebound from its first loss of the year against No. 9 Bayside; and No. 8 Nansemond River will try to get into a tie for first place in the Bay Rivers District at unbeaten York.
