Senior quarterback Jimmy Whitehead tossed three touchdown passes as Catholic trounced Model School for the Deaf, 25-6, at Gallaudet University in Washington Thursday.
Whitehead was 8-for-24 for 146 yards passing and connected with his brother Byron for first-half scores of 36 and 30 yards and with Louis Faison on a 24-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.
``There were a lot of dropped passes,'' Catholic coach John O'Hara said. ``We played very well defensively. Offensively we moved the ball, but we can play better offensively.''
The Crusaders (4-3) amassed 261 yards in total offense while limiting Model School to 35 yards.
Faison totaled 120 yards with 70 yards rushing on 10 carries and three receptions for 50 yards. Byron Whitehead caught four passes for 82 yards.

Norfolk Academy 2, Walsingham 1: Jennifer Holbrook scored her second goal with three minutes remaining to lift the Bulldogs (14-3-2) in a TCIS semifinal. Mason White assisted on both scores. Academy will host Nansemond-Suffolk in the final today at 3:30 p.m.
N-SA 3, Norfolk Collegiate 0: Heather Rountree had a goal and an assist as the No. 3 Saints upended the No. 2 Oaks in a TCIS semifinal.
Booker T. 1, Lake Taylor 0: Kiki Sowell's goal lifted Booker T. Washington (7-3-2) in an Eastern District semifinal.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Indian River 3, Deep Creek 0: The Braves (11-1) swept, 15-7, 15-6, 15-4, to clinch the Southeastern District regular-season title.
Salem 2, First Colonial 1: Jenny Harmon and Sara Gatewood combined on five consecutive blocks as the Sun Devils (14-3) grabbed a 5-0 in the decisive third game to win, 13-15, 16-14, 15-5 and pull into a tie with the Patriots for second place with one game remaining in the Beach District. Salem visits Green Run, while First Colonial must play first-place Kempsville Monday.
Western Branch 3, Great Bridge 1: Amanda Adkins served 13 points and made kills as the Bruins (13-3, 10-2 Southeastern) won, 15-11, 15-6, 10-15, 15-6.
Kempsville 2, Green Run 0: Melanie Freeman had 14 kills for the Chiefs (16-1).
