MARY D. HODGES

Mary Duke Hodges, 87, formerly of the 2200 block of Ferndale Road in Chesapeake and a resident at Lynn Shores Chateau, died Oct. 27, 1994, in Virginia Beach.

Mrs. Hodges was a native of Nansemond County, Va. She had retired as a bookkeeper after 45 years from S. Lastings Furniture and M.M. Crockin Furniture. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her parents, Leroy Duke and Sallie Nelms Duke Sawyer and her husband, William A. Hodges.

Survivors include a daughter, Jessie Hodges Hunter of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, William W. Hunter III of Hampton, Mary Lynn Askew of Newport News and Leigh Ann Garrett of York County, Va.; and seven grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Philip Parker. The family will receive friends in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, today from 7 to 9 p.m.
