CALVIN LEE KITTLESON

Calvin ``Cal'' Lee Kittleson, 71, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1994, in an Oxnard, Calif., hospital as the result of an automobile accident while on a family visit.

Mr. Kittleson, born Oct. 14, 1923 in Chicago, Ill., was a former Ventura County, Calif., resident from 1954 until 1974, when he moved to Chesapeake, Va., where he was presently living.

Mr. Kittleson was an electronic engineer with Westinghouse Electric Corporation for 33 years, retiring in 1986. Upon retiring, Mr. Kittleson and his wife enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends in Las Cruces, N.M., and Ventura County. Mr. Kittleson grew up in Las Cruces, where he graduated from New Mexico State University and met and married his wife, Cathryn. He was a member of the Great Bridge Presbyterian Church and Lions Club in Chesapeake; an active member of the Sons of Norway, Norfolk, Va; Tidewater Community Band; Hampton Roads Community Band; Oxnard Tennis Center; charter member of the Cabrillo Racquet Club; charter member of the Noontime Lions Club of Oxnard; and had played in the Ventura County Community Band. In the past, he had played for the Ted Weems Orchestra and Alvino Ray Band.

Mr. Kittleson will be dearly missed by Cathryn, his wife of 46 years, of Chesapeake, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Kristen and Anna Kittleson of Ventura; daughter, Karen Kittleson of Agoura; brother, A.C. Bud Kittleson, M.D. and his wife Lois, M.D. of San Jose; granddaughters, Kayla Kittleson and Ariana Kittleson; and grandson, Evan Hinds. He was preceded in death by son Kent Arthur Kittleson in 1987.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ventura, Calif., and also 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura, California.
