Augustine Bartlett Reynolds Jr., 77, a retired lieutenant colonel, died Oct. 26, 1994, in Norfolk.
Lt. Col. Reynolds was born in New Haven, Conn. He retired from the United States Marine Corps in 1965 after 26 years of active duty during which time he saw service in both WWII and the Korean War. He was on Guadalcanal and in the Solomon Islands during WWII. During the Korean War he served with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment from its landing at Inchon, through the Chosin Reservoir and Hagaru. He later attended the Armed Forces Staff College and served as commanding officer of both the 2nd Tank Battalion and as the Commander of the Marine Barracks at Yorktown, Va. His decorations included multiple awards of the Bronze Star with Combat ``V'' as well as the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat ``V.'' Following his retirement from the Marine Corps he served as director of personnel at DePaul Hospital for 18 years. He was a member of the Lions Club in Norfolk and past president of the Virginia Hospital Personnel Administrators.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy M. Reynolds; three sons, Augustine Bartlett Reynolds III and Peter Mark Reynolds, both of Virginia Beach and Geoffrey Thayer Reynolds of Colonial Heights, Va.; granddaughter, Sandra Elizabeth Reynolds of Midlothian, Va.; and grandson, Geoffrey Gregg Reynolds of Los Angeles, Calif.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Princess Anne Memorial Park. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, is handling arrangements.
